Computer Labs

We provide computer labs in 7 locations within the residence halls and campus apartments. Each lab has a printer which we supply with paper and toner. This is the second largest manpower requirement for Resnet. We visit each lab twice per day to check the equipment and make sure the printer is full of paper. The largest labs can hold 2500 sheets of paper. During finals week we often need to completely fill the largest printers twice a day. We limit the students to 500 sheets of paper for the year. But when there are 4000 students, that's 2,000,000 sheets of paper that could be printed. Last year we printed over 800,000 sheets of paper. Our oldest printer was purchased in 2000 and has printed over 1,000,000 sheets of paper.

We do not staff the computer labs with any supervision, and they are open 24 hours a day. We keep the computers "clean" by regularly reloading the operating system and creating aggressive file, registry, and user permissions to restrict the students to only run the software we provide, save files in one location, and not modify any of the settings on the computer.

Our computer labs are often used for staff training, conferences, and other events and we constantly maintain a clean, professional, and study friendly environment.
